OSU 300 Multiport Optical Service Unit
The ADTRAN® OSU 300 is a point-to-point fiber product that operates
up to 44.2 Mbps, providing users up to four DTE data ports or 12 T1 ports.
This multiport OSU provides access to private single mode fiber and
allows users to share the bandwidth between multiple applications. The
OSU 300 is the latest in a series of broadband access products from
ADTRAN.
The OSU 300 has one HSSI (High Speed Serial Interface) port built into
the chassis. Expansion slots for up to three additional DTE interfaces
accept optional field-upgradable interface cards. The cards can be either
HSSI, high-speed V.35, or DSX-1. The HSSI ports support rates from 75
kbps to 44.2 Mbps, while the high-speed V.35 ports support rates from 75
kbps to 10 Mbps, both in 75 kbps increments. Each DSX module has four
DSX-1 interfaces and up to three DSX-1 modules can be supported in a
chassis. The OSU 300 offers complete configuration, diagnostic, and
performance monitoring through a VT 100 terminal, SNMP, or Telnet.

OCU 45 T3/E3/STS-1 Fiber MODEM
ADTRAN has applied its industry-leading carrier class expertise to the
OCU 45, creating a product that meets the most stringent carrier class
requirements. The OCU 45 offers transparent transport of T3/E3/STS-l
services over a fiber transport, at distances up to 40km. The OCU 45 is
available in singlemode and multimode versions. Measuring only one rack
unit high the OCU 45 can be used standalone, wall mounted or mounted
in 19-inch or 23-inch shelves, using an optional mounting tray. This com-
pact device gives NSPs a convenient way to extend T3/E3/STS-l services
from their point of presence to their customer and provides enterprise
users a powerful tool for extendingT3/E3/STS-l services over fiber in a
campus environment.
Configuration of
the OCU 45 is
accomplished
through 2 switches
on the front of the
unit, which config-
ure the metallic
interface to T3, E3
or STS-l and sets
metallic line length to short or long. The OCU 45 has both normally-open
and normally-closed alarm relay contacts, with a front panel Alarm Cuttoff
Switch. Diagnostics include metallic and optical loopbacks, initiated via a
front panel switch. 3 LED's monitor the status of both the metallic and
optical interfaces. The OCU 45 is DC powered from a -48 volt source. An
optional AC to -48 Vdc converter is available to allow the OCU 45 to be
AC powered.
